OK OK OK *Deep Breath* I have received may questions about “Will what I post online prevent me from getting my dream job in the industry”-Here is my long winded answer-
Everyone who is hiring interns/ street teamer, out of curiosity, will look at each of the applicants on different social outlet because it is another way to check the facts and to see who you really are off the paper. Being passionate for music is what brings us all together. However there is a very notable line between reblogging a photo/video, every now and then of your favorite band X, and discussing how you are almost done with your hair doll shrine or running a Role Playing site or overly/ obsessively tweeting your favorite band 100x in an hour.
I will be perfectly honest, every time I have to set up a street team I have picked my ST members based off of twitter/ tumblr/ facebook. Why? If you are going to be around a band who I think highly enough to work for, I will NOT bring on people who:
talk shit on the band I work for or a band I work alongside- If you are tweeting/blogging about how you absolutely LOATHE Band X and can’t stand even the look of them, I will not bring you into a venue with that band playing even if you LOOOOVVEEE the band I work for. I want positive people around not someone who is going to bash my friends.
Has a racist/homophobic screen names or posts- dropping words like ‘nigga’ and ‘faggot’ every 2 second isn’t cool and doesn’t fly when you maybe representing a band/label/company.
Is overly obsessed with a member- I want you there to work not to be making my friends feel uncomfortable NOR prancing around like an airhead trying to get dudes or chicks *Dudes can be groupies/ fanboys too* to notice them….
Which leads me too-
OVERLY OBSESSED WITH HATING THE GIRL/BOYFRIENDS/ Wives/Husbands- I love the vast majority of my friends bf/gf/wives/husbands. They are like the extended family. And well, fuck it, I don’t wanna be around you if you have an issue with my extended family.
So at the end of the day think about what you post because your online persona could be a make it break it when trying to get your dream job.
Just my opinion.
Loooovvvvveeeee-
A very sick Molly.
This. Everything
yepp. I’m not even there yet and I agree with this.
